PAMPERS & IPNA - "A Guide to the First 12 Weeks", 2010
Pampers has produced a booklet entitled ‘A Guide to the First 12 Weeks’, with the support of the Irish Practice Nurses Association together with the advice of a practising midwife who is a member of the I.P.N.A. ‘A Guide to the First 12 Weeks’ has been tailored specifically for Irish mums and mums-to-be to provide information that will help them through the early weeks of pregnancy.

National Cancer Screening Service - REPORT 2008-2010
Practice Nurses and the Irish Practice Nurses Association are identified on pages 17 & 29 of this report.
National Cancer Control Programme - GP referral guidelines
The National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) has developed national GP referral guidelines for Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer and Prostate Cancer and electronic referral forms for each one. The IPNA was represented at meetings to develop these guidelines and hard copies have been sent to each GP surgery.

HIQA - "General Practice Messaging Standards, (GPMS)" - April 2010
"The General Practice Messaging Standards, published by the Health Information and Quality Authority, are technical standards for information systems that outline the way patient information, ranging from blood test results, diagnosis information, referrals and X rays, can be accurately and safely transferred between healthcare services."

HSE information leaflets re: International Standardisation of HbA1c (April 2010)
"The implementation date is the 1st of July, 2010 and from that day, HbA1c results will be reported in the new units called mmol/mol and in the traditional way as a percentage. This is called dual reporting and will continue until the end of 2011. After that only the new units will be reported."

HIQA - "Report of the Evaluation of the Use of Resources in the National Population-Based Cancer Screening Programme and Associated Services", Jan 2010
Practice Nurses were represented at all meetings of the Expert Advisory Group by Netta Williams, (PDC).
Practice Nurses may be interested in the statistic reported on page 67 of the report - i.e. that "47% of smear tests provided under the [CervicalCheck] scheme have been carried out by Practice Nurses".

NCSS - Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Cervical Screening, 2009
These Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Cervical Screening are the result of "a collaborative process undertaken between representatives of each step of the cervical screening process – Programme Administration, Primary Care, Cytopathology, Histopathology and Colposcopy."
The Irish Practice Nurses Association was represented on the Primary Care Quality Assurance Sub-Group by Ruth Taylor (IPNA National Chairperson 2005-2008) and Orla Loftus-Moran (IPNA National Chairperson 2008-present).

IMB - Guidelines for Safe and Effective Management and Use of POINT OF CARE TESTING in Primary & Community Care, 2009
"The Irish Medicines Board in association with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI), the Health Service Executive (HSE), the Faculty of Pathology (RCPI), the Association of Clinical Biochemists in Ireland (ACBI), and the Academy of Medical Laboratory Science (AMLS) has produced ‘Guidelines for Safe and Effective Management and Use of Point of Care Testing in Primary and Community Care’. These guidelines extend the principles outlined in the Point of Care testing guidelines published by the IMB in 2007, from hospital to community settings. These guidelines are also supported by the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA)."

IMB Guidance on Safe Use of Medical Devices 2009
"The Irish Medicines Board (IMB) has recently published a series of medical device leaflets. The leaflets will be of interest to a broad range of people and aim to inform the public of key safety issues relating to both the purchase and use of medical devices. The leaflets also provide information on what to do if a medical device does not work or causes harm to the user during use.

National Group of Professional Development Coordinators for Practice Nurses - Exemplar Document 2009

"As a result of successful collaboration between the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland’s MSc Women's Health course director and students, and the coordinator of the Migrant Women's Health Services Project in AkiDwA, key information on FGM and related health-care needs was researched and developed. Irish FGM-prevalence statistics were collated during 2008 and are also contained in this resource. It is envisaged that this resource will be useful to a range of health-care professionals in a broad spectrum of possible settings."
