IPNA Educational Bursary 2010

The IPNA is offering an educational bursary for members who are undertaking or have undertaken a research project or clinical audit in the area of practice nursing. This can be any initiative in practice nursing – clinical, educational or practice management – within the past 2 years.

Valerie Mangan IPNA Loyalty Award 2010

This annual award was launched in 2006 in memory of our friend and colleague Valerie Mangan (R.I.P.).

Valerie was a very active member of the IPNA, and felt strongly that members should attend their local branch meetings so that the association would continue to grow and develop as a strong body of practice nurse professionals. The format of the award was developed in consultation with Valerie’s family and is as follows:

IPNA Practice Nurse of the Year Award 2010

This Award aims to recognize the contribution made by an individual Practice Nurse in any area within Practice Nursing, i.e. entries can be based on patient care, education, support of colleagues, and/or any other area that is relevant. Any IPNA Branch may nominate any current IPNA member.

IPNA Clinical Award 2009 (Heart Failure)

The winner of this Award is Anna O'Donoghue from Kerry.  Her winning case study was published in the Nov-Dec 09 issue of "Nursing in General Practice".

IPNA Educational Bursary 2009

16th October 2009 - The winner of this Award is Marie Courtney from Cork for her research entitled "Advanced and Specialist Nursing in Ireland (Primary Care): An Exploration of Professional and Organisational Issues"

Marie presented her research findings at the IPNA Annual Conference on Friday 16th October.  This presentation is available to view in the Members Area and the abstract was published in the Nov-Dec 09 issue of "Nursing in General Practice".  The abstract is also posted on the Research page of this website.

Valerie Mangan IPNA Loyalty Award 2009

17th October 2009 - the winner of this year's Valerie Mangan IPNA Loyalty Award is Kathleen Phelan from Kilkenny, whose name was drawn by Valerie's sister, Dorothy, at the IPNA Annual Conference.

IPNA "Irish Practice Nurse of the Year Award 2009"

The winner of this award was Ann McGill from Donegal.  The announcement was made at the Gala Dinner of IPNA Annual Conference in Westport and "Nursing in General Practice" subsequently published an interview with Ann in the Nov-Dec 09 issue.
