Information for Practice Nurses
Each of the 19 branches of the Irish Practice Nurses Association holds at least 6 meetings per year for the local members. Meetings are held on a weeknight and include an educational talk on a subject that is relevant to Practice Nursing today. For information on joining the IPNA please see the Membership Page of this website.

Caring for the Child with a Life-Limiting Condition - various programmes
In 2007 an education programme Caring for the Child with a Life-limiting Condition was developed to raise awareness and understanding of the complex and ongoing needs of children with life-limiting conditions and their families. The need for substantial education and training for all health professionals was highlighted in the report “A Palliative Care Needs Assessment for Children” (Department of Health and Children and the Irish Hospice Foundation 2005). The programme is managed and co-ordinated by the Centre of Children’s Nurse Education in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin.

RCSI/HPSC - "Safe Patient Care: Healthcare-associated Infection Prevention & Control for All - A Foundation Course"
Monday 6th - Friday 10th September 2010, RCSI Dublin.
"The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) [have developed a] joint course on Safe Patient Care – Healthcare-associated Infection Prevention & Control for All. The course originated from requests from a number of SARI (Strategy for the Control of Antimicrobial Resistance in Ireland) Regional Committees for basic infection prevention and control education and from a series of HPSC educational workshops in 2009 when it became apparent that there was a great deal of interest in a foundation course in infection prevention & control for non-infection prevention and control specialists."

NFPTAI - Natural Family Planning Teachers Association of Ireland
The NFPTAI Course in Fertility Awareness leading to a Certificate to teach Natural Family Planning - symptothermal multiple index /double-check method, is held over 5 week-ends. Classes each week-end are held on Saturday and Sunday from 9.00 – 17.30 hours.
